Professor Medinat Folorunso Salman is a distinguished academic and visionary leader in the field of Mathematics Education, with a career spanning over three decades as a professional teacher, teacher educator, and education administrator. Her educational journey began with the completion of her secondary education in 1976, followed by the attainment of a Teachers’ Grade II certificate in 1977. She furthered her academic pursuits by earning an NCE in Mathematics and Chemistry in 1981, a B.Ed. in Mathematics in 1985, a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education in 1990, and a Ph.D. in the same field in 1998.

Throughout her illustrious career, Professor Salman has demonstrated exceptional leadership and academic excellence. She has held key positions, including Head of the Department of Science Education and Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Ilorin. Her tenure in these roles has been marked by a commitment to enhancing educational practices and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Over more than three decades, Professor Salman has made significant contributions to the field of education. She has been a dedicated teacher, inspiring generations of students with her passion for Mathematics Education. As a teacher educator, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the pedagogical skills of numerous educators. Her expertise in education administration has been instrumental in guiding institutions towards excellence, ensuring that educational policies and practices align with global standards.

Professor Salman is a prolific researcher with a focus on critical areas such as curriculum evaluation, gender issues, and the integration of information and communication technology (ICT) into educational settings. Her research contributions are substantial, with over 70 publications in reputable local, national, and international journals. She has presented her findings at numerous conferences, contributing significantly to the advancement of Mathematics Education globally.

As a dedicated mentor, Professor Salman has supervised over 56 Master’s theses and 19 Ph.D. dissertations, playing a pivotal role in shaping the careers of many graduate students. Her expertise extends beyond academia, as she has served as an external examiner for several universities and as an accreditor for the National Universities Commission (NUC). Her service on various committees has been instrumental in curriculum planning and accreditation processes, reinforcing her influence in the field of education.

Beyond her academic achievements, Professor Salman is actively engaged in community activities, serving as a guest speaker, lecturer, and facilitator for various events and workshops. She has held leadership positions in professional organizations, including Chairman of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria, Kwara State Chapter, from 2014 to 2016, and National Financial Secretary for the Mathematical Association of Nigeria from 2007 to 2011. As a Fellow of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (FMAN) and a member of the National Association of Educational Researchers and Evaluators, Professor Salman remains committed to fostering collaboration and development within the academic community.
