School of Postgraduate Studies
The School of Postgraduate Studies at Kwara State University of Education (KWASUED) provides advanced training and research opportunities in various fields of Education. The school is committed to developing highly skilled professionals, researchers, and educators who will contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the improvement of educational practices in Nigeria and beyond. The Postgraduate School will commence operation in Phase 2, i.e., 2029/2034. The programmes are also expected to take off in phases within the specified period.


Objectives
The objectives of postgraduate studies at KWASUED are:
- To provide students with an advanced understanding of educational theories, approaches, and practices applicable in diverse learning environments
- To develop students' research proficiency, enabling them to investigate educational issues, evaluate instructional methods, and contribute to the body of knowledge in education.
- To foster specialized expertise in specific educational fields or disciplines, preparing graduates to address the unique challenges in their chosen areas of specialization.
- To enhance the professional competence of educators and those in leadership positions in educational institutions, contributing to improved teaching and learning outcomes.

Admission Requirements
- A minimum of five O’ Level credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
- A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Honours (Lower Division) from KWASUED or any other university recognized by the KWASUED Senate.
- Applicants for the Ph.D. program must possess a relevant Master's degree with a weighted average score of at least 60% or a 4.0 CGPA on a 5-point scale.
Applicants may be required to sit for a qualifying examination or attend an interview. They must also submit an application form, academic transcripts, and other supporting documents.

Structure and Administration
The School of Postgraduate Studies coordinates all postgraduate programs offered by KWASUED faculties. While programs are housed within the respective academic units, the School provides overall management, establishes guidelines, and offers supervisory and organizational support for postgraduate studies.
The Dean heads the School of Postgraduate Studies. A Postgraduate Board, chaired by the Dean and comprising representatives from various faculties, oversees the policy direction of the school and postgraduate studies.
Research Focus
KWASUED’s School of Postgraduate Studies emphasizes research that contributes to the advancement of educational knowledge and practice. Students are encouraged to engage in research that addresses critical issues in education and leads to the publication of their findings in reputable academic journals.
